Christmas Magic in Savona has come and gone. Many organizations came together to bring a fun filled program to all the members of our communities. The event was held at the Mary Helen Joint Meeting House (MHJMH). Santa and Mrs. Claus came for a visit and posed for free pictures. Many enjoyed free hot coco and coffee along with sweet treats, popcorn and hot dogs while warming up by a small fire pit. Inside the MHJMH there were crafts and a coloring contest for all ages, a chili cook off, won by Sarah Cady, and basket raffles. The Campbell-Savona school performed live music with young people playing recorders and later the chorus sung. The winner of the house lighting contest was Steve and Charity Bebee. The night ended with the lighting of the Village Christmas Tree, by Reverend Lynn Sharp of the Good Shepherd and Reverend James Patton of the Savona Federated Church.
The Village Event committee would like to thank all who helped: Santa and Mrs. Claus, Dan Jankowski (photographer), Village of Savona, Mayor Brian Scott, Savona Fire Department, Savona Free Library, Savona Federated Church, Church of the Good Shepherd, Hobe Tree Farm in Wayland, King’ Market, Campbell-Savona Central School District, Mr. Anderson, Patti Presher, Campbell-Savona School Music Department, Character Kids Club, PTO/Girl Scouts and many other individuals who volunteered to make Christmas Magic in Savona a night to remember.
The raffle contest and chili cook off raised funds for the area organizations. This year’s recipients were the Community Barn, Savona Fire Department and Savona Free Library. Thank you to all who entered the contests and made donations. All three organizations appreciate the support the communities give throughout the year. Thank you for making this year’s event a great success.
Until next time have a happy holiday, and a great New Year!
